This was brought in with a frayed cord towards the USB 2.0 type-A connector. One of the wires was completely torn away from the rest of the connector and the cable was very thin and frail.
This was brought in with skipping issues. It would recognize and play the CD but immediately start skipping every second. Eventually it would warm up and skipping would become less frequent. These units are around 20 years old or so
